BACKGROUND

A dynamic force in music, Selah Moonie is both a self-taught and formally trained musician, mastering instruments like the piano, double bass, and electric bass. Her unwavering dedication culminated in a degree in Jazz Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, complemented by studies in music business at Hollywood’s Musician’s Institute.

Selah’s musical journey began in childhood, playing piano in church, clarinet in her marching band, and performing double bass with the Bahamas National Symphony Orchestra as a teenager. Today, she stands out as a genre-defying artist renowned for her talents as a songwriter, arranger, producer, bandleader, and multi-instrumentalist.

Her authenticity has garnered admiration from Grammy Award-winning artists such as India Arie, Dianne Reeves, and Terri Lyne Carrington, while also capturing the attention of iconic funk pioneer Bootsy Collins. Selah has graced the stages of celebrated venues across the U.S. as a member of the Berklee Orchestra, headlined at Martha’s Vineyard, and performed at global music and jazz festivals. Notably, she has opened for Rock & Roll Hall of Famers George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic, showcasing her prowess as both an artist and bandleader. Her unique artistry and inspiring journey have been featured in several international music magazines.

Selah's story is one of resilience and inspiration. Amidst the challenges of homelessness in LA during the pandemic, she pursued her dreams relentlessly, launching her own indie label, band, and a small entertainment company. As she gears up to release new music, her mission remains clear: to heal and liberate through the transformative power of art.
